men of praise (newly updated)
The Men of Praise are a Southern Gospel Quartet that is keeping the ![]()
traditional style of singing alive. The group consists of Charles Abee, baritone/piano;
Matthew Stewart, tenor; Curt Davis, lead;
Danny Brown, bass; and Brooks Abee, bass guitar.
The Men of Praise travel approximately 15-20 dates per year and ![]()
thrill audiences with new renditions of so many classic songs such as
“He’s Everything to Me”, “Life Will Be Sweeter” and
“The Longer I Serve Him”. The group utilizes Charles and Brooks
to provide most all of the music for their concerts.
Charles plays piano for the group and is music director for the Winklers Grove Baptist Church in Hickory, NC. He has played piano for groups such as the Meetin’ Time Quartet, Tarheel State Quartet and the Kingsmen Quartet from Asheville, NC.
Matthew hails from Havre De Grace, MD. Before his move to the “south”, he traveled with several groups there and is making a name for himself as one of the smoothest tenors in gospel music! Not only will you enjoy Matthew’s vocal abilities, but you will be blessed by his humble spirit.
Curt has traveled since he was 15 and has graced the stage with artists such as the Melodyaires, the Whisnants and the Perrys. In 2007, Curt released his first solo CD, Sheltered, that has done quite well on radio and on the charts. Curt is also currently serving as Minister of Music at the Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church in Marion, NC.
Danny joins the group from Spartanburg, SC and rounds out the sound of the quartet with his rich bass voice. Danny is the newest member to the group and is already singing into the hearts of fans all across the country.
Brooks, son of Charles, is one of the finest bass guitarists traveling today and has been riding on a bus since he was 5 years old and is no stranger to being on stage. He has also traveled with several groups including the Tarheel State Quartet, the Whisnants and is currently the bass guitarist for his home church, Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church.
The Men of Praise are somewhat limited to the numbers of concerts they can do because of their commitments to their home churches. Charles adds, “We are so blessed to be able to travel and share our ministry. Not only do we love to sing, but we love to see people’s lives changed through our music and testimony.”
If you haven’t had the opportunity to hear this fine Southern Gospel Quartet, please make plans to come see them when they are in your area!
